Segments

Segments allow you to group players based on specific criteria for targeted marketing and automation.

What is a Segment?

A segment is a dynamic group of players who match certain rules:

  • Rules are evaluated automatically
  • Players enter/exit segments as their data changes
  • Segments can be used in campaigns and workflows

Terms Used on This Page

Know Your Customer (KYC) is the identity-verification process for a Player.

TermMeaning
Know Your Customer (KYC)A player's identity-verification status
CSVComma-separated values (CSV) — a plain-text spreadsheet export format
UUIDUniversally Unique Identifier (UUID) — the unique ID assigned to each player

Accessing Segments

  1. Click Segments in the sidebar
  2. View existing segments or create new ones

Creating a Segment

Segments let you target the same group of players consistently across workflows and exports, instead of rebuilding the same filter by hand every time.

The Create Segment template chooser — a blank starting point plus ready-made audience recipes such as High-value depositors and Recently lapsed players.

  1. Select a brand first — segment definitions are brand-scoped
  2. Click Create Segment and pick a template: Blank segment, Active in last 7 days, High-value depositors, Recently lapsed players, Email unverified without deposit, or Country + KYC (demographics example)
  3. Enter a name and description
  4. Build rules using the rule builder
  5. Save to create the segment, or Save Draft to create it inactive

Rule Builder

The rule builder lets you define segment criteria visually.

The segment rule builder open on a saved audience, showing the condition group that defines who belongs to the segment.

Rule Structure

Rules combine conditions with AND, OR, and NOT groups that can be nested. There are three kinds of condition:

  • Event condition - matches on an event type over a time range (rolling, calendar, or absolute), with optional filters and an aggregation: COUNT, SUM, AVG, MIN, or MAX (for example, "total deposits over the last 30 days > €500").
  • Attribute condition - matches on a player attribute (for example, country or KYC status).
  • Aggregate condition - matches on a pre-computed aggregate field.
GROUP (AND)
Event: at least 1 bet placed — count over last 7 days > 0
AND
Attribute: country in ["UK","DE"]

Available Fields

The list of event types and attribute/aggregate fields is loaded live from a per-brand field catalog when you open the editor — it is not a fixed list, and it reflects what the selected brand actually collects. Select a brand first (rules are brand-scoped), then pick fields from the catalog inside each condition.

Operators

OperatorDescriptionExample
eqEqualsCountry eq "UK"
neqNot equalsStatus neq "Blocked"
gt / gteGreater than / or equalTotal Deposits gt €1,000
lt / lteLess than / or equalDays Since Login lt 30
contains / not_containsCase-insensitive string (not) containsEmail contains "@gmail"
in / not_in(Not) in a listCountry in ["UK", "DE", "FR"]
betweenInclusive rangeAge between 25 and 35
is_null / is_not_nullValue is (not) setKYC status is_not_null
birthday_is_todayPlayer's birthday matches today (year-agnostic)Date of Birth birthday_is_today
birthday_in_next_daysPlayer's birthday falls within the next N daysDate of Birth birthday_in_next_days 7

Combining Rules

Use AND/OR/NOT groups to create complex segments:

  • AND - All conditions must be true
  • OR - Any condition can be true
  • NOT - Invert a group
  • Groups - Nest conditions for complex logic

Example Segments

High Rollers

AND
Event: total deposits over last 30 days > €10,000
Event: at least 1 bet placed in last 7 days

New Players (This Month)

Attribute: registration date is in this_month (calendar)

Recently Lapsed

AND
Event: total deposits (all-time) > €5,000
NOT Event: at least 1 bet placed in last 30 days

UK Players

Attribute: country eq "UK"

Previewing Segments

Preview lets you confirm exactly who a rule matches before it goes live in a campaign or workflow, so you catch an overly broad or overly narrow rule before it reaches players.

Before saving, preview which players match:

  1. Build your rules
  2. Click Preview
  3. View matching players count
  4. Browse sample matching players
  5. Adjust rules if needed

Segment Size

The preview shows:

  • Estimated count - the estimated number of matching players
  • Sample players - a small sample of matching players to sanity-check the rule
  • Evaluation policy - a risk level plus any warnings (for example, a slow query or a large scheduled audience). A blocking warning prevents saving the rule in Scheduled mode and suggests Real-time or Manual instead.

Using Segments

Segments are consumed by Workflows and player export:

Workflows

A segment can be used as a workflow's entry (segment-batch broadcast), as a trigger filter, in a Condition (Is In Segment), and as a Switch branch. The View workflow usage row action shows exactly which workflows reference a segment and how.

Player Export

Export a segment's members to CSV (capped at 10,000 members) for offline use.

Evaluation Mode

Each segment has an Evaluation Mode that controls when membership is recalculated. Picking the right mode keeps membership fresh enough for its use without re-evaluating more often than the segment actually needs:

  • Scheduled - automatically re-evaluate every N minutes (a minimum interval is enforced).
  • Real-time - re-evaluate as matching events arrive.
  • Manual - re-evaluate only when someone triggers a manual run (Evaluate now).

Static Player List

Instead of rules, you can build a segment from an explicit Static Player List — paste or upload player UUIDs (up to 5,000 unique IDs per import). A static player list is always a Manual segment; clear the import to switch back to a rule-based Scheduled or Real-time segment.

Managing Segments

Edit a Segment

  1. Click on the segment
  2. Modify rules
  3. Save changes

Membership recalculates after saving.

Delete a Segment

Delete a segment you no longer need to keep your segment list manageable — since campaigns and workflows can depend on a segment, check references before removing it.

  1. Open the segment row's actions menu and select Delete
  2. Confirm deletion
warning

Deleting a segment may break workflows or campaigns using it. Check references before deleting.

Duplicate a Segment

Open the segment row's actions menu and select Duplicate segment. It opens a new segment prefilled as "Copy of <name>" for you to edit and save.

Row Actions

Each segment row offers, directly in the row:

  • Export players - download members as CSV (capped at 10,000 members).
  • Edit - open the segment in the rule builder.

And in the row's actions menu:

  • Duplicate segment - create a new segment prefilled from this one.
  • Evaluate now - trigger a manual re-evaluation (segment must be active).
  • View workflow usage - see which workflows reference the segment.
  • Activate / Deactivate - toggle the segment on or off.
  • Delete - permanently remove the segment.

Best Practices

  1. Name clearly - Use descriptive names (e.g., "UK High Rollers 30 Days Active")
  2. Keep focused - Each segment should represent one concept
  3. Document rules - Use the description field to explain logic
  4. Review regularly - Check segment sizes stay meaningful
  5. Test before use - Preview before using in campaigns
